CEONet Retreat 2020
Weaving: Strengthening the Essential Social Fabric of Place
The CEONet Retreat held in conjunction with the CFUnited Conference invites CEOs from across the country to participate in a one-and-a-half-day intensive exchange exploring our core role in the community. Designed in partnership with the Aspen Institute Community Strategies Group, the retreat will feature:
David Brooks
What Is At Our Core?
CEONet Reboot
Networking and Open Exchange

David Brooks
Best-selling author, New York Times Op-Ed columnist, commentator and founder of Weave: The Social Fabric Project at the Aspen Institute – will keynote the retreat. He will introduce the concept of “weaving” and its importance as a cultural movement in repairing the frayed distrust, division and exclusion threads in our country’s and communities’ social fabric. In the ensuing discussion with David and each other, CEOs will address what community foundations can do to be weavers and to support and “walk with” weavers in their communities.
What is at Our Core?
To prime our discussion with David Brooks, Janet Topolsky of the Aspen Institute Community Strategies Group will facilitate a story, reflection and exchange session exploring historic, current and aspirational answers to the question of “What is the core purpose and function of community foundations?”
Networking and Open Exchange
The retreat will include an optional networking social and dinner on Friday night, April 3; breakfast, lunch and reception on Saturday, April 4; and breakfast on Sunday, April 5.
